A Visit to our Cardiff Bedworks

Three of us from the Savoir Beds London Bedworks rolled in to Taff’s Well train station, and as expected, it was cold, rainy and overcast…ick.

…but, let’s just say ‘the fog lifted’ once we saw our Savoir Beds van waiting to wisk us off to the Bedworks for lunch and proper tour.

At Savoir, we make four models of bed, two of which are made exclusively at our Cardiff Bedworks location.  These are our No3 and No4 models.

The three of us had a lovely day chatting with the team and quite a few of the craftsmen – and even tried our hands at tufting a mattress and attaching a brass air vent, like a grommet, to our mattress fabric.

Thank you to the Cardiff Bedworks team for a lovely day (and our pillows!)

All in all, it was a great day – we said goodbye to the team under umbrellas in the spray-like rain and got back on the ‘little’ train at Taff’s Well back to London.

Top Dog - Introducing our Luxury Pet Bed

Here at Savoir we are massive animal lovers and are lucky enough to have our very own office dog Spooky. Spooky is quite the sleep specialist and has recently been testing out a brand new stylish pet bed that we have introduced just in time for Christmas gifting.

The adorable bed is upholstered in a monochrome, Scandi style Larsen Baytown fabric with cosy Sherpa fleece cushion pads which are removable and machine washable so you don’t need to worry about muddy paws. Topped off with retro 50’s-esque steel legs, this item is a stylish statement whilst also providing maximum comfort for your pet.

The bed gets a big thumbs up from these two pooches in our NY showroom

With all the luxury and quality of a Savoir, the handmade bed is constructed using the same production techniques as any other Savoir bed within our London based Bedworks filled with natural materials- ideal for any pampered pet!

Priced at £750 + the cost of your choice of upholstery fabric/piping.
Larsen Baytown fabric- £60 per metre.

This bespoke bed is also suitable for cats, and can be recreated with the help of Savoir’s dedicated showroom teams, tailored to your unique style/needs. For our showroom details see here

Savoir Beds Hits Hollywood- Gone Girl

Savoir has made its onscreen debut in the film that everyone is talking about!

We were surprised and excited to notice an onscreen Savoir mention in the recently released blockbuster; Gone Girl. In the scene where Desi Collings (Neil Patrick Harris) is giving lead character Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) a tour of his lavish, state of the art lake house he says:

“…And the bed is a Savoir, you can’t get a better night’s sleep” Testing the firmness of the mattresses Amy responds with “… Ah, this is just what I need right now.”

We can’t argue with that! The bed featured is a Savoir No2 which was initially commissioned for The Savoy Hotel over a century ago and is still handcrafted with the original methods and natural materials here in London, taking around 80 hours for our skilled craftsmen to perfect. The bed is topped off with our luxurious HCa Topper which is made up of hand-teased, curled horse tail, lambs wool and a luxurious outer layer of pure cashmere.

Gone Girl is in cinemas nationwide now, written by Gillian Flynn (adapted from her novel of the same title) and directed by David Fincher who also worked on The Social Network, Fight Club and Zodiac. So far the film has received critical acclaim and is top of the UK Box Office- we suggest you go see it!

Wool Week 2014

Today marks the start of Wool Week 2014 which is organised by The Campaign for Wool- a global initiative with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales as patron. Wool Week aims to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique, natural and sustainable benefits offered by wool.

Here at Savoir we understand the impeccable qualities of wool and use the material in every single bed handcrafted in our London based Bedworks. Why do we use it? Well firstly it’s a completely natural fibre making it environmentally friendly. Its benefits also include resilience; wool is naturally elastic so therefore maintains its shape much better over time than manmade materials. It is also breathable so when used in our mattresses it wicks away moisture, helping to regulate body temperature, to ensure the best nights’ sleep.

We also offer wool upholstery fabrics for the base and headboard of our bespoke beds. Our charming Charlene Mullen bed uses cream wool with hand embroidered double cross stich pattern. The design can be replicated with the help of our showroom teams.

Furthermore we have a range of wool upholstery fabric from Mark Alexander. The new Town pure wool fabric works perfectly with our luxurious headboards. Visit our showrooms to see the full collection.
