Last week international Savoir Beds dealers visited us in London for our annual dealer conference. Besides discussing all the exciting new projects Savoir Beds has lined up for 2014, they took some time to increase their knowledge about the product. They took a 'Topper Making Workshop' with our master craftsmen. As usual our dealers added a competitive element and challenged each other to see which 'country' could make the best topper. They all succeeded in their task and received awards.

Last night the winners of the Design Grand Prix competition were announced.
In a private event the nervous designers waited for the moment in which the finalists were revealed.

Our Judges Jenny Gibbs - founder of KLC, Philippa Clark - Journalist for FT and Alistair Hughes - Director of Savoir Beds gave some short speeches and unveiled the winning headboards.

This years theme was ROYAL, the participants were asked to create their interpretations of “Royal” within the context of luxury interior design and develop headboard designs that bring “Royal” into the bedroom.

3 finalists were selected by the judges and had their designs made by Savoir Beds. The judges then chose one overall winner, Natasha Gupta's Peacock headboard. She was awarded with the prize of 'a luxury weekend in a Design Capital - for two nights treated by Savoir Beds'.

In 1st place: Natasha Gupta - UK - design 'Royal Peacock' - Student at KLC.
In 2nd place: Olga Becker - GERMANY - design 'Fleuron'

On the 9th and 10th of November those visiting the Bentley Showroom in Dusseldorf were treated to a BENTLEY FRIENDS & CO event. Set amongst these beautiful British cars a Savoir Beds master craftsman was demonstrating how the iconic Savoir No1 bed set is made. Using traditional mattress making techniques and only the finest natural materials. A No1 bed was on display for everyone to try, the event was a success. We would like to thank our Bentley partner and look forward to collaborating again in future.

The Savoir bespoke service starts when fitting the client for the bed, like a Savile Row suit the bed set will be tailored to provide the correct level of support and a comfortable feel.

When it comes to defining the style anything is possible, beds and headboards have been made to all shapes and sizes to fit clients requests,  as well as infinite choice of fabrics and finishes. Also little details like a secret drawer for your jewellery or even a personalised nameplate, complete with your wedding date, it can all be done.

Savoir Beds have worked in collaboration with many interior designers including Helen Amy Murray, Rohit Bal, Charlene Mullen and most recently Nicole Fuller. Savoir have also supplied many interesting jobs, including:
  • A huge £18,000 circular bed, upholstered entirely in suede, for a spectacular 1970’s style hotel suite at Stapleford Park, set in some of England’s most stunning grounds.  The room, known as the Savoir Suite, owes much to Austin Powers with shag pile, circular mirrors and glitter balls.
  • 24 beds for the late King Hassan of Morocco.  The King normally took his own bed on his travels, but during one visit to London his staff discovered that the bed had been ruined, and he had to make do with the bed in Claridge’s, where he was staying.  It was, of course, a Savoir Bed and he slept ‘as though on a cloud’ and promptly ordered 24 for his palace.
  • Savoir made a mattress to fit an extra long bed frame originally commission for Mussolini.
  • Savoir have made beds for three James Bond actors.
  • A 108” wide bed for a couple with 5 kids who like to join them in the night!
  • Many odd shaped beds for yachts – owners are coming round to the view that the standard foam mattress in a yacht costing many millions of dollars simply does not make sense.

Savior Beds are truly bespoke and thanks to a talented team of designers and craftsman no two Savoir beds are the same. We embrace the challenge of creating something entirely original every time.
