Introducing Claudia...

We're hugely excited to show you one of our newest bed releases, the canary yellow Claudia design. With a bright daffodil inspired colour palette mixed with a more subtle grey piping, the Claudia will look beautiful in any setting.

We shot this bed at our MC Motors shoot back in March, and are pleased to show you the finished lifestyle shot above. We love the contrast between the dark and atmospheric backdrop and then bright and summery yellow hue.

As you can see in the behind the scenes pictures, the industrial feel of MC Motors oozes character and natural charm, with the skylighted roof providing an abundance of glorious natural light.

We're hugely happy with the result of this fantastic shoot - with more images still to be revealed! We hope you like the new Claudia design. Let us know what you think and watch this space for the next release!

Horsing around

Here at Savoir we use only the finest natural materials to handcraft our luxury beds. One of the most interesting materials used is the Argentinian horse tail we use in each of our bedsets.

We use South American horse tail - as opposed to horse hair, or other cheaper alternatives - as we believe it is the undisputed king of upholstery hair, and we are the only bed company to use it so extensively.

The horse tail is sent from Argentinia to Switzerland, where it is cleaned and twisted into long, tight rope.

Once untwisted, each long strand holds many curls, resulting in a micro-spring of unparalleled bounce and longevity.  Millions of these hair springs go into just one bed, hand-teased onto the mattress, topper or box spring.

Naturally hollow like wool, horse tail wicks away moisture and helps regulate your temperature for a supremely comfortable night's sleep.

Contact our showroom teams for more information on horse tail, or any of the other natural materials that go into our beds.

Getting Crafty

As many of you will have seen, Savoir were thrilled to have taken part in the inaugural London Craft Week - 'putting craftsmanship centre stage of the world’s creative capital'.

We teamed up with FAOLCHÚ, the brainchild of John Galvin of John Galvin Design, along with his business partner, Derek Wilson. The company makes handcrafted wooden furniture to an incredible standard in Scotland. John told us how the company use interesting characteristics within pieces of wood to create something really special and one of a kind.

John and Derek chat to Sam from Hole & Corner
We were pleased to welcome various members of the press, including Hole & Corner and Homes & Gardens, as well as guests from as far a field as Canada! It was great to show all of our guests a range of our beds, and even give them the chance to have a lie down!

Our skilled craftsman, TJ Brown was on hand making one of our No2 beds live in the showroom. Visitors were really excited to see the level of skill that is needed to create one of our pieces.

We served a lovely spread of food throughout the day, offering yummy nibbles for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and we had the champagne on ice!

The event was very successful over all, with our guests getting a sense for the high level of craft that goes into our business.

'Putting craftsmanship centre stage of the world’s creative capital' - Savoir Beds celebrates London Craft Week

We are very excited to announce our participation in London Craft Week - a brand new event taking place across the big smoke this week from the 6th-10th of May.

The inaugural event has been showcasing exceptional craftsmanship through a journey-of-discovery programme featuring hidden workshops, lesser known makers and highly specialised skills alongside famous shops, galleries and luxury brands.

T.J Brown making a Savoir Bed
Tomorrow, Savoir will play host in our Wigmore Street showroom, and will be demonstrating the making of one of our world-famous No.2 beds - with our master craftsman, T.J Brown, working in the showroom window.

We would like to invite guests to get a truly first-hand insight into the processes involved in making one of our beds, including techniques like star-lashing, stuff-and-stitch, slipping, side-stitching and tufting, along with other essential upholstery skills.

Also, in addition, the workshop will play host to a display of beautifully hand-crafted pieces by furniture makers, John Galvin and Derek Wilson, who will discuss and demonstrate the techniques and processes behind their work, and the concept behind their new furniture company, FAOLCHÚ.

We really hope that some of your will swing by for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea! You can find the invitation above with more details.

We look forward to seeing you!

On location: AM Hire

This week, we photographed another three new bed designs at the fantastic AM Hire. With hundreds of props to choose from, the plain white warehouse-style location lent a fantastic backdrop for the dramatic styling we chose for this shoot.

Photographer Dominic Blackmore was on set with us, making sure we were able to get the perfect shot of each of our stunning new beds. With a fresh and forward-thinking approach, Dominic has worked with us several times before.

As mentioned, what we loved most about this shoot was the use of AM Hire’s fabulous props. As you will see, we had both a Minotaur and centaur on set, adding to the drama and whimsy of the final photographs.

It took us a long time to style the beds to perfection, using handmade pillows in fabric including Zimmer and Rohde’s 3d ‘Dexter’ fabric, as you will see above. We also used a fabulously plush charcoal rug from The Rug Company (below), which certainly helped to make the set look more homely.

As always, our fabulous office dog, Spooky, was on hand to offer her help. As you can see here, she made even some new friends during the shoot.

The new beds shot in this session will be revealed soon, so watch this space!
