Photoshoot: MC Motors

This week we were on set at MC Motors, one of Castle Gibson’s stunning locations.

Shooting our latest range of bespoke beds, the warehouse-style location has lent a beautiful backdrop, which truly accentuates the beauty of our beds.

Renowned interiors photographer, Damien Russell, was on site snapping each bed, and took some truly breathtaking shots!

As you can see in these behind-the-scenes images, the shabby-chic style of the site really contrasted well with the opulence of our beds. We loved the industrial feel of MC Motors; it oozes character and natural charm with the skylighted roof providing an abundance of glorious natural light.

We’re very eager to see the final photographs from our new shoot! As you can see here, there are some really exciting new designs set to be unveiled over the coming months!

Sleep Posture

As promised, in this blog post you can find the second in a series of video tutorials from sleep expert, Sammy Margo.

This week, Sammy is talking in depth about the importance of ‘sleep posture’ and how this can affect the way we sleep.

In the video, Sammy advises you on how to best sleep on your back, side and front, to avoid stiff necks and even wrinkles!

In her book, ‘The Good Sleep Guide’, Sammy also discusses how sleepers can actually go about controlling their position. While you may think that it’s impossible to control or change the position you sleep in since you aren’t fully aware of what you are doing while asleep, it is possible and can actually make a huge difference. Sammy advises that when you go to sleep, or when you wake up in the night, if you make a conscious decision to return your body to a comfortable position, it will eventually become habitual.

If you’re used to sleeping in a certain way, but your position is not maximising your chances of a good night’s sleep, it’s time to come out of your comfort zone and try something different – as Sammy demonstrates in this video!

Food for a better snooze

Last week, we celebrated National Bed Month with a visit from chartered physiotherapist and sleep expert, Sammy Margo.

As promised, we are set to share regular video guides, which we believe will help you get the best sleep possible.

In our first video, Sammy Margo offers her advice on the best foods to help you snooze. As you’ll see, the foods recommended aren't necessarily what you would expect, with snacks like turkey and Marmite coming top of the list. Sammy will explain what makes a good ‘sleepy snack’ and the reason behind this.

In her book, ‘The Good Sleep Guide’ Sammy also warns against eating a big meal before bedtime, but notes that many sleepers choose to ignore this and believe that a big meal will help us to get to sleep by exhausting our body as it tries to digest it. However, research actually found that this does the opposite – with a large meal meaning that our circulatory system needs to work harder to move more blood to our digestive tract, and to secrete more gastric acid. All this hard work is actually anything but relaxing!

It’s best to eat a larger meal at lunchtime and a smaller meal in the evening, letting your body rest, rather than forcing it to digest!

A ‘sleep seminar’ with Sammy Margo

We were thrilled to welcome chartered physiotherapist and sleep expert, Sammy Margo, to our Wigmore Street showroom yesterday for a ‘crash course’ in sleep.

From 10am-12pm, our showroom was transformed in to a sleep clinic, with Sammy giving her best advice on how to sleep better, which included information on sleep posture, bedroom environment and even foods to eat for a better sleep!

During her talk, Sammy also invited our Wigmore Street showroom manager, James, to take the stage and tell our guests about the horsetail we use in each of our mattresses, as well as a little more information on the formation of each of our bespoke beds.

We were also really interested to see how best to switch around your sleep position to eradicate postural issues associated with sleeping awkwardly.
