The Savoir Signature Style

Our story began in 1889, with a man named Richard D'Oyly Carte. A famous impresario, D'Oyly Carte opened The Savoy Hotel in London - designed to be the most innovative and glamorous place anyone could ever hope to lay their head. He succeeded, with no stone left unturned when it came to luxury.

During a hotel refit in 1905 - D'Oyly Carte felt no current bed available matched the levels of luxury The Savoy was now famous for, so he employed the prestigious upholsterer James Edwards to create the Savoy Bed. This design later became our Savoir No2 model, which still to this day features a very special mattress material.

The beautiful, 100% natural fabric still used in our mattresses, toppers and boxspring cases is our trademark Trellis design, a jacquard (self-patterned) weave created by Lady D'Oyly Carte, Richard's wife, in 1905 and used ever since.

It comes in 3 chic colours: white, grey and silver, and has become a Savoir signature feature!
